Middle school math departments from Skagit and Whatcom counties are working together to improve teaching and student learning in mathematics.
Participants include teachers and principals from La Venture and Mount Baker Middle Schools and Immaculate Conception Regional School in Mount Vernon, Kulshan and Shuksan Middle Schools in Bellingham, Cascade Middle School in Sedro Woolley, and Lynden Middle School in Lynden.
Western Washington University faculty and staff are collaborating with teachers and principals to achieve two overarching goals.
Goal 1: Improve teachers’ subject area knowledge in mathematics.
Goal 2: Increase student achievement in mathematics.
